Actor Ryu Seung-soo revealed that he suffered significant financial losses due to a past guarantee mistake.
On the 18th, MBN's 'Jeon Hyun-moo Plan 2' featured Ryu Seung-soo, who has been living in Jeju for four years, introducing a popular restaurant specializing in spicy monkfish stew.
Discussing the current state of the drama and film industry, Ryu noted, "In the past, 120 productions were made annually, but now it's about 50. It's an environment where production is challenging, and as an actor, it's hard to make a living, so I take on multiple jobs."
As a 27-year veteran actor, Ryu criticized the disparity in pay between leading and supporting actors. He stated, "The pay difference is 20 times, with leads earning between 150 million to 700 million won."
Jeon Hyun-moo asked Ryu, who married in his mid-40s, "I'm 46. It's not a young age, and you married at a similar age. How did you decide to marry?" Ryu, who married at 45, replied, "I was originally against marriage. It's not something you can do just because you want to." He added, "To marry, there needs to be a significant event, either complete success or total failure, which gives you the courage to make the most important choice in life."
Ryu shared, "When life is comfortable and problem-free, it's hard to make life-changing decisions. I married when I was down. I made a mistake with a guarantee." When asked about the amount, he said, "About three apartments' worth." When Jeon asked, "Where is that person now?" Ryu replied, "I can't say because they're family."
Ryu continued, "It was the biggest crisis of my life, and during that time, I chose my current wife. We have a beautiful daughter and son, and seeing them motivates me to work hard. Before marriage, I disliked children, but now I'd trade my life for them." He also remarked, "Marriage completely changes your life. When dating, you're lovers, but after marriage, you become spouses, and after having children, you become parents, taking on new responsibilities."
Ryu advised Jeon, "If you have a lot of money like you, you should have many children," recommending sperm freezing. Jeon joked, "With whom should I have them? If there's funding, I'll go freeze them tomorrow."
