Ock Joo-hyun has expressed her passion as a musical actress. On the 13th, she appeared on JTBC's 'Newsroom'. Recently, Ock Joo-hyun played the role of Oscar, a woman disguised as a man, in the musical 'The Rose of Versailles'.
She shared her thoughts, saying, 'I've done many works, but appearing as a soldier in pants and boots instead of a dress or skirt was a first for me, which was enjoyable. It was challenging, and I learned a lot.' The musical 'Elisabeth', in which Ock Joo-hyun starred, has been made into a live performance film titled 'Elisabeth: The Musical Live'. Ock Joo-hyun stated, 'It received a lot of love, and many fans and enthusiasts hoped it would be filmed. Fortunately, we were able to celebrate the 10th anniversary by turning it into a film, allowing us to meet in theaters.' She admitted feeling embarrassed after watching the technical preview, saying, 'I was sweating. It was embarrassing to see myself up close.'
In 'Elisabeth', she portrayed the character from her teens to her sixties. Ock Joo-hyun explained, 'Our work is a 'song-through' musical, where the passage of time is expressed through music. The characters' journeys are often conveyed through changes in voice, which was something the creators wanted to express through tone. I focused on this aspect while working on the production.' During the performance of 'Elisabeth', she suffered a significant injury. Ock Joo-hyun recalled, 'The wire and costumes have been used for 10 years. In one scene, the wire cut into my thigh, causing a lot of bleeding. I quickly received first aid and got stitches the next day. Despite the injury, I was grateful that no bones were broken. It was an experience that taught me a lot.' Ock Joo-hyun considers 'Elisabeth' a turning point in her career as a musical actress. She found solace in the number 'Nothing' from Act 2. She reflected, 'There's a line that goes, 'If I were that woman, how wonderful it would be. You're physically bound, but I'm spiritually bound. I've fought against everything, but what have I achieved? Nothing.' Everyone has moments like that. I've lived a life known to people since I was 18 as a member of a girl group. That scene was healing for me, a time to ask myself the right questions.' Regarding her ultimate goals, Ock Joo-hyun expressed, 'I want to live well, finding happiness in what I do and what I need to fulfill.' She also expressed a strong desire for a full reunion of Fin.K.L, saying, 'We always talk about it, but there's nothing concrete yet. We'll work hard to make it happen.' She humorously urged her fellow members, 'Let's gather while people still know who we are. We can't wait until people ask, 'Who is Fin.K.L?''
