CJ ENM has announced its commitment to leading the K-content ecosystem by leveraging its strong IP competitiveness and creating synergy across platforms. During the 'CJ Movie Forum' held at CGV Centum City during the Busan International Film Festival, CJ ENM CEO Yoon Sang-hyun emphasized the company's dedication to investing approximately 1 trillion KRW annually in content to drive the K-content ecosystem forward. Despite the growing uncertainties in the film industry, Yoon expressed confidence in the power of storytelling and the company's role as a preferred partner for filmmakers with compelling stories and ideas. CJ ENM outlined its content business strategy, focusing on securing talented creators, optimizing platform synergy between linear and digital, and establishing a sustainable global business structure. Yoon highlighted the company's goal to become a 'Global No.1 IP Powerhouse' by 2025, spreading CJ ENM's unique IP competitiveness worldwide and fostering a virtuous cycle where talented creators' dreams are realized and expanded globally. The event also gathered executives from CJ CGV, Studio Dragon, and TVING, who discussed strategies to adapt to the rapidly changing industry environment. CJ CGV's Lee Dong-hyun noted efforts to diversify content supply, while Studio Dragon's Jang Kyung-ik emphasized the shift from quantity to quality in the domestic drama market. CJ ENM's Seo Jang-ho mentioned plans to incorporate AI technology across production and distribution and expand collaborations with global platforms. Executives agreed on the potential for synergy through collaboration between theaters, OTT, and channels, rather than viewing them as competing platforms. They discussed maximizing IP lifecycle from the planning stage, with examples like the film 'Good or Bad Dongjae,' produced by Studio Dragon and co-programmed on TVING and tvN. Global expansion plans were also revealed, with Studio Dragon focusing on drama production in the US and Japan, and CJ ENM targeting regions like the US, Southeast Asia, and Japan for K-content expansion. Seo emphasized the importance of developing new markets like India and the Middle East, calling for government support in investments like dubbing. In the 'Global Talk' session, CJ ENM's Ko Kyung-beom and emerging creators explored the appeal of K-content and strategies for global expansion. Ko highlighted the unique storytelling and cultural authenticity of Korean content, and the company's efforts to support creators in finding suitable global pathways for their works. CJ ENM also unveiled its new lineup criteria, focusing on projects that maintain the essence of film while leveraging CJ's strong platforms and assets. Upcoming projects include Park Chan-wook's new film 'Inevitability,' the OTT series remake of 'Fabricated City,' and the remake of 'Save the Green Planet' titled 'Bugonia,' among others, set to be released by 2025.
