YG's new girl group BABYMONSTER captured the eyes and ears of global fans by releasing its fifth introduction video following Luca, Parita, Laura, and Asa.
YG Entertainment posted ‘BABYMONSTER – Introducing CHIQUITA’ on its official blog at midnight on the 23rd. This video shows the side of Chiquita, the youngest prospective member of Baby Monster at the age of 13 and the youngest member from Thailand, following Blackpink's Lisa.
Chiquita joined the Baby Monster Project just three months after becoming a YG trainee. This is thanks to the synergy between outstanding talent and bold passion. Executive producer Yang Hyun-seok immediately caught Chiquita's potential and expressed extraordinary trust in her, saying, "She is a fearless, natural friend. As soon as I saw her first month-end evaluation, I thought I should have her join right away."
In fact, Chiquita has grown rapidly under YG's systematic training. He has a sweet voice and clear, clear high notes, and he surprised the YG staff by establishing his own vocal color through tireless efforts even among prominent trainees.
Outside the practice room, he made those who saw him smile with his lovely side like any other person his age. What made Chiquita, who was radiating energy at every moment, smile even brighter was her 'role model', Blackpink's Lisa. Despite her busy schedule, Lisa personally prepared a special meeting for her juniors Chiquita and Parita.
The strong YG familyship really shined. Lisa, who visited a Thai restaurant with the two, monitored their practice videos as a reliable senior artist, gave them affectionate praise and advice, and even prepared a surprise gift, giving a glimpse of the warm chemistry between senior and junior.
Executive producer Yang Hyun-seok also expressed his hope, saying, "As a producer, Chiquita is a very special child. I hope that one day she will become a singer who is as popular as Lisa and exerts global influence," and Chiquita also said, "She will become an artist loved around the world." He expressed his aspirations and raised expectations.
Meanwhile, Baby Monster is a new girl group released by YG about 7 years after Blackpink, and is mostly made up of teenagers. As general producer Yang Hyun-seok personally announced their debut, they are receiving great interest from fans around the world even though they are still in the teasing stage.
The number of subscribers to the Baby Monster YouTube channel exceeded 1.06 million, and the number of content views exceeded 150 million. A multinational group of three Korean members (Ahyeon, Haram, and Laura), two Thai members (Parita and Chiquita), and two Japanese members (Luca and Asa), with vocal, dance, rap, and visual capabilities, will dominate the domestic music industry in 2023. Beyond that, attention is focused on the K-POP market as to whether it can change the landscape of the global music market.
