Hive, multi-label strategy ‘wins’, wins 8 awards at Japan’s ‘Gold Disc Awards’


Hive Labels artists are making waves in the Japanese music market. This is the result of solidifying its position as a global K-pop powerhouse through a multi-label strategy and actively discovering capable new artists.

According to the list of winners for the '37th Japan Gold Disc Awards' announced by the Recording Industry Association of Japan on the 10th, BTS (Big Hit Music), Seventeen (Pledis Entertainment), &TEAM (&TEAM, Hive Labels Japan) under Hive Labels. A total of 8 wins were achieved.

BTS confirmed their strong popularity in Japan by winning 4 awards. In particular, he was named the winner of 'Best Asian Artist', an award given to the most active Asian artist of the year, for five consecutive years, setting a record for the most wins in that category at Japan's 'Gold Disc Awards'.

In addition, BTS won 'Best 3 Albums (Asia)' for 'Proof', an anthology album that covers 9 years of history since their debut, and 'Song of the Year by Download' for this album's title song 'Yet To Come (The Most Beautiful Moment)'. (Asia)'.

In addition, BTS won the 'Music Video of the Year' for 'BTS 2021 Muster Microcosm', which contains a live fan meeting commemorating the 8th anniversary of its debut, and BTS was named in major categories such as artist, album, sound source, and video at the 'Gold Disc Awards'. It became an Olin group. In addition to group activities, Jungkook and Charlie Puth's collaborative song 'Left and Right' was listed on 'Song of the Year by Streaming (Western Music)', proving his strong influence as a solo artist.

Seventeen's albums released in Korea and Japan were equally loved, winning three awards. Japan's first EP 'DREAM' and Korea's 4th full-length album 'Face the Sun' were included in the 'Best 3 Albums (Asia)' list. Among them, 'DREAM' showed its potential by winning 'Album of the Year (Asia)', which is given to the album of the year that achieved the greatest achievement in that category.

As a result, all of the works selected in the 'Best 3 Album (Asia)' category of Japan's 'Golden Disk Awards' this year were filled with Hive Labels artists. Last year, BTS' second Japanese best album 'BTS, THE BEST', Seventeen's 9th mini album 'Attacca', and Tomorrow by Together's first Japanese EP 'Chaotic Wonderland' were selected.

The progress of Hive Japan’s rookie group also stands out. &TEAM was named as the winner of ‘Best 5 New Artist (Japanese Music)’. Those who debuted in December last year were honored with the 2022 Rookie of the Year Award with less than a month of activity.

&TEAM's award has special meaning. Ahead of &TEAM's debut, Hive applied the same multi-label strategy that respects diversity and independence to overseas labels, and thoroughly considered the local fandom and environment to discover and promote talented artists. As a result, &TEAM proved its global competitiveness by being ranked among the ‘Best 5 New Artists’ in the Japanese music category.

The 'Gold Disc Awards', established by the Recording Industry Association of Japan in 1987, is one of the most prestigious awards ceremonies in the Japanese music industry, and annually selects and awards artists and works that have contributed greatly to the development of the music industry. Winners (works) are determined based on net sales performance of CDs, videos, etc. (total shipments minus returns), music transmission sales, and streaming playback performance.
