Drug problems in the entertainment industry are constantly emerging. As the shocking confession of an idol from a group has been recalled, concerns about the drug problem spreading throughout the entertainment industry are growing.

On the 4th, a drug-related story that Se-ri, a member of the Dal Shabet group, mentioned in the past on her YouTube channel was talked about in the entertainment industry. In a video titled ''The dark behind-the-scenes world of celebrities revealed by a former girl group member,'' Seri confessed that she received drug advice from an idol.

Seri said, "Can I tell you this? I will tell you now," and added, "It was one of the groups, and she brought a medicine box," and added, "(Inside the medicine box) there was something like vitamins."

He continued, "(The person who recommended the drug) asked, 'If you take this, you'll feel better. Do you want to take it?' He said it very casually," he said. "In a public place with many people, he said, 'Oh, I need to take vitamins,' and asked, 'Who wants to take this?' “It was the situation at the time that I passed it on to,” he said.

He also said, "It wasn't a serious situation at all. I said, 'Don't eat for no reason,' so I didn't eat. And I don't usually eat food given to me by other people. But later, that person was covered in the news for drug-related reasons."

Currently, the number of drug offenders in Korea is 30 per 100,000 people. Typically, a country with less than 20 people per 100,000 people is called a ‘drug-free country.’ This means that our country is no longer a drug-free country. It is rapidly expanding into the entertainment industry. Experts point out that celebrities who enjoy public popularity and are accustomed to high nervous stimulation are relatively easy to fall into the swamp of drugs.

Nam Tae-hyun re-summoned due to shocking revelations about female idols

Among active idols, Nam Tae-hyun and Jung Il-hoon are being mentioned again as people who have dabbled in drugs.

Seo Min-jae, who appeared in last year's 'Heart Signal 3' and was his girlfriend, claimed that Nam Tae-hyun had 'used Philopon'. Nam Tae-hyun was described as a ‘mulberry’. Yongsan Police Station in Seoul is investigating Nam Tae-hyun on charges of drug use.

Jung Il-hoon's 'use of cannabis' also caused great controversy. The habitual use of the drug 161 times and the purchase through 'cryptocurrency' to erase traces were known to the world. The money spent to purchase marijuana was approximately 133 million won.

Afterwards, the court sentenced Jeong Il-hoon to two years in prison and three years of probation. He is currently in self-reflection after serving six months in prison.

Due to the nature of the job of an idol, people are always evaluating them. Since we start experiencing society at a young age, we live with psychological burden and pressure. Forgetting about reality and looking for something to rely on, they turn to drugs. An actor aggravated the controversy by committing a drug crime and making a nuanced excuse by saying that he ‘didn’t cause harm to others.’ There is a need to recognize that drug crimes committed by celebrities are more stringent considering their social impact.
