'Rebound' ranked 2nd on the first day of release
The basketball movie 'Rebound' (directed by Jang Hang-jun) failed to surpass the Japanese animation movie 'Suzume's Lockdown' (directed by Makoto Shinkai).

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network on the 6th, 'Rebound', which was released on the 5th, ranked second, attracting 32,926 viewers. The cumulative number of viewers was 50,765.

'Rebound' is garnering attention due to the collaboration between director Jang Hang-jun and writers Kwon Seong-hee and Kim Eun-hee. It depicts the miraculous story of the 8 days of the 2012 National High School Basketball Tournament, achieved by the new coach and 6 players of the weakest basketball team.

While Japanese animation films are currently enjoying record-breaking box office success, it was expected that 'Rebound' would protect the pride of Korean films with its release, but it failed to break through 'Suzume's Lockdown' on the first day of release and failed to enter first place. However, as it is still the second day of release, it is necessary to monitor future momentum.

'Suzume's Lockdown', which blocked the attack of 'Rebound', mobilized 43,288 people on this day and recorded a total cumulative audience of 3,902,860.

'Suzume's Door Break' recorded its highest score, exceeding 'Your Name' (3.81 million viewers), which was the biggest box office hit among director Makoto Shinkai's domestically released works, and is about to surpass 4 million. In addition, it is expected to surpass 'The First Slam Dunk' (directed by Takehiko Inoue), the highest-grossing Japanese film of all time.

'Suzume's Lockdown' tells the story of Suzume, a girl who accidentally opens a door that causes disaster, and desperately tries to close it to prevent disasters occurring throughout Japan. The movie takes as its main subject the Great East Japan Earthquake, which had a magnitude of 9.0, the largest ever observed in Japan. ‘Suzume’s Lockdown’ is a movie that attracted 10 million viewers in Japan.

Third place was the American film ‘Air’, watched by 17,965 viewers.
