A woman in her 20s who was riding next to actress Kim Sae-ron when she was drunk driving was sentenced to a fine.
On the 12th, Judge Lee Hwan-ki of the 4th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court sentenced Mr. A to a fine of 5 million won for aiding and abetting a violation of the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
The court explained, "Considering the danger posed by drunk driving, there is a great need for punishment," and "We took into account the fact that the defendant admitted his mistake and was a first-time offender with no history of criminal punishment."
Kim Sae-ron was drunk driving in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul around 8 a.m. last May. Afterwards, it struck a guardrail and a street tree several times and damaged a transformer. Mr. A was also riding in the vehicle.
Mr. A is accused of observing drunk driving, including directly setting the destination location by manipulating the navigation system.
Due to the accident, electricity supply to 57 nearby stores and other locations was cut off for about 3 hours. Kim Sae-ron's blood alcohol content was over 0.2%, far exceeding the license revocation level (0.08%). Kim Sae-ron was sentenced to a fine of 20 million won in the first trial on the 5th.
