'Dream' Director Lee Byung-hun "There is a sense of pressure for meaningful results"
“I think there needs to be meaningful results. It’s burdensome.”

Director Lee Byung-hun expressed the pressure of box office success after 'Extreme Job'.

On the 24th, director Lee Byung-hun was interviewed about the movie 'Dream' (directed by Lee Byung-hun) at a cafe in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

On this day, director Lee introduced 'Dream' as "a work on which I worked on the scenario before writing 'Twenty'." Referring to actors Park Seo-joon and IU, who were cast as the leads, he said, "I was cast after 'Extreme Job'. I think there was an advantage to being in 'Extreme Job' and there is also a burden."

“There was definitely an extra point for ‘Extreme Job’. If it weren’t for the extra point, I think someone else would have been cast for ‘Dream’. So I feel a lot of pressure to achieve meaningful results through this work.”

Regarding this burden, he said, “It is something that we naturally have to bear.” “I received extra points for ‘Extreme Job,’ was cast, and received investment. When investing in Korean films, there is a set annual budget, and I spent a certain portion of it. Of course, it’s burdensome.”

Regarding box office success, director Lee emphasized that “judgment is up to the audience.” Nevertheless, when asked if there was any evaluation he wanted to hear about this work, director Lee said, "'It was a necessary story.'"

“I think it would be good if the audience who saw it said, ‘Why was this story made?’ and responded, ‘It was a story that really needed to be told, it had meaning.’ I don’t know anything else, but I want to receive that level of evaluation. "
