Star talk show taken over by YouTube
Celebrity talk shows are gaining popularity on YouTube. Content that invites guests such as Yoo Jae-suk, IU, Lee Young-ji, and Jo Hyun-ah to share small stories sometimes records over 10 million views.

Popular talk shows recently aired on broadcasting companies include MBC's 'Radio Star' and tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block'. Among dozens of entertainment programs, there are only two talk shows that have captured the attention and viewership ratings.

On the other hand, talk shows are a hot topic on YouTube. The natural charm of stars is revealed more than when they appeared on TV, so viewers can watch at ease. It provides a sense of healing in an entertainment show full of provocative productions.

A representative example is ‘Excuse Go’ hosted by Yoo Jae-seok on the YouTube channel ‘Tteuntteun’. There is something Yoo Jae-seok often says in Excuse High School. ‘Make it easy, we’re just talking amongst ourselves.’ This is what differentiates ‘Excuse Go’. Comedians Jo Se-ho, Ji Seok-jin, and Nam Chang-hee, who are close friends with Yoo Jae-seok, appear as semi-regular members. They are also called Yoo Jae-seok's 'attachment doll' and 'key ring', and the 'Tiki Taka' of teasing and joking with each other brings laughter.

The atmosphere itself is comfortable, so no matter what guest comes, it feels like chatting with a close friend. Recently, Jimin and Suga from BTS appeared on ‘Excuse Go’. On this day, Jimin seemed nervous in the beginning, but he quickly regained his original condition and adapted by playing drips due to the talks by Yoo Jae-seok, Jo Se-ho, and Ji Seok-jin. The video exceeded 5 million views.

The difference between ‘Excuse Go’ is also revealed in its length. What's unique is that, rather than the original 8-14 minutes of videos that are popular on YouTube, the length is 40-50 minutes, which is what you would see on a broadcasting station. Subscribers say that rather than finding it boring, there is no video like this when eating, putting on makeup, or before going to bed.

Drinking content is also loved. With alcohol, you can listen to the stars' honest stories. Although it is not a big story that is difficult to hear on regular broadcasts, it picks out stories that fans are curious about. The YouTube channel ‘It’s Easy to Start a Business’ (hereinafter referred to as ‘Chajung’), run by Youngji Lee, has approximately 2.59 million subscribers. Youngji Lee is the MC and usually invites idols to have drinks and talk with them.

Youngji Lee's unique high tension and friendliness reveal the 'real' side of the idols. Since she also drinks alcohol, fans can get a glimpse of Choi Ae's cute injections that they don't normally see. There are several videos that exceed 10 million views.

Singer Cho Hyun-ah's YouTube channel 'Cho Hyun-ah's Thursday Night' also features 'drinking talk' as its main content. In particular, the episode featuring singer Suzy recorded about 3 million views. Suzy, who does not often appear on entertainment programs, appeared on a YouTube talk show due to her friendship with MC Jo Hyun-ah. The relationship between Suzy and Jo Hyun-ah, who can freely ask personal questions about dating, marriage, etc., also became a hot topic.

'IU's Palette', hosted by IU, is loved for its unique combinations. A guest comes out and sings and talks with IU. This is the first time fans have seen BTS Suga and IU performing on stage together. The enthusiastic response was also proven by the number of views of 5.53 million. The episode featuring J-Hope, another member of BTS, was loved and recorded 8.87 million views.

Celebrities are attracting attention by showing different sides of themselves on broadcast entertainment shows. The natural and honest stories of stars captured the hearts of YouTube users.
