Song Pil-geun, “7 stomach holes, 17cm incision, with organs melted”

Comedian Song Pil-geun shared his current status after fighting acute necrotizing pancreatitis.

On the 2nd, a video titled '[Meet Song Pil-geun] Current status of the youngest chief comedian in the 27th KBS open recruitment, a gag prodigy who lost half of his body' was posted on the YouTube channel Latest Olympics.

In the released video, Song Pil-geun responded to concerns by saying, "I was so surprised by the news of major surgery and battle with illness." He said, "Many people felt sorry for me when I saw the photo in the article. Even when I saw it, I thought it was a bit pitiful. How did the photo get taken like that?"

He continued, "It's okay, for now. Everyone thinks I have a plump image, but I think they see me that way because I've lost a lot of weight. People I meet after a long time all have basically the same facial expressions. No matter how brightly I greet them, they start with a sigh. I'm a comedian. “Rather than seeming pitiful or arousing sympathy, I would rather make fun of him,” he said.

He continued, "Rather, I think it is a good opportunity. If I want something to be featured in the main article, I have to either commit a crime or be in pain. I chose the latter."

Song Pil-geun explained the ‘necrotizing acute pancreatitis’ that he is suffering from. He said, "The protein-decomposing enzyme produced by the pancreas was spilled anywhere in the body. As a result, the walls of other organs melted when the decomposing enzyme touched them. My organs were melted by the enzyme I released."

Also, "The doctor said that it was the most severe form of necrotizing pancreatitis. When I took an "There was a time when you said, 'I heard a lot that sepsis could occur. I was worried because sepsis has a high mortality rate, but fortunately my body survived well,'" he said, recalling the dizzying situation at the time.

Song Pil-geun added, "I heard that surgery would be necessary, so I drilled 7 holes through laparoscopic surgery. That didn't work, so I made a 17cm incision below the stomach and rinsed the inside several times."

I also remember the moment I first felt the symptoms. He said, "At first, my solar plexus was very painful. I kept feeling like something was tightening or loosening. The location of the pancreas is below and behind the stomach. It's close to the back. That's why it hurts more when I lie down. That's why there's no answer. If it hurts, “I have to lie down, but it’s the same even if I lie down. It drives me crazy because there’s no better posture to do it this way,” he said.

Lastly, "After being seriously ill, I have many people to whom I am grateful. People I had never even imagined contacted me, such as senior Song Eun-i. In fact, she was a very difficult and high-ranking senior, but she often contacted me and said, 'My sister is praying hard,' which was a great help to me. “It’s done,” he said.
