Baek Yun-sik's ex-lover's 'essay publication ban' lawsuit sentenced today (3rd)

The results of the first trial of the lawsuit filed by actor Baek Yun-sik against his ex-lover to ban publication of his 'private life essay' will be released on the 3rd.

According to the legal community, the 14th Civil Settlement Division of the Seoul Central District Court will announce the ruling on the publication and sales ban lawsuit filed by Baek Yun-sik against his ex-lover, Mr. A, at 9:50 a.m. on this day.

In 2013, Baek Yoon-sik acknowledged dating Mr. A, a former broadcaster, overcoming the 30-year age gap.

However, Baek Yun-sik announced his breakup with Mr. A in the same year. Afterwards, Mr. A continued to expose Baek Yun-sik's private life through the media. Mr. A made claims such as 'Baek Yun-sik dated another woman' and 'I was assaulted by Baek Yun-sik's son', and actually filed a lawsuit for damages against Baek Yun-sik.

The lawsuit ended with an apology from Mr. A. However, in 2022, Mr. A published an autobiography, ‘Alcohol Survivor,’ about his love affair and breakup with Baek Yun-sik. Accordingly, the issue of revealing Baek Yun-sik's private life surfaced once again.

Accordingly, Baek Yun-sik filed a publication ban lawsuit and provisional injunction against Mr. A. The court accepted the request for a provisional injunction in April last year, saying, “There is a risk of causing irreparable damage.”

The court added, “The book must not be published or distributed without deleting some of its contents until the first trial is sentenced.”

The conflict between Baek Yun-sik and Mr. A was not resolved. The former court induced both sides to reach an agreement, but ended up receiving a first trial ruling on the merits.
