Former anchor Baek Ji-yeon becomes in-laws with HL Chairman Chung Mong-won

Former MBC anchor Baek Ji-yeon becomes in-laws with HL Group (former Halla Group) Chairman Chung Mong-won.

According to the business world on the 10th, former anchor Baek's only son, Kang In-chan, and Chairman Chung's second daughter, Ji-soo, will tie the knot on June 2.

Mr. Inchan majored in design at a famous American university and is working in an industry related to his major. Mr. Jisoo also graduated from college in the United States and is currently in charge of discovering new businesses at HL Group's North American corporation. The two have been dating for two years and are said to have set a wedding date through a meeting between their families last year.

Former anchor Baek Ji-yeon passed the MBC open recruitment in 1987 and became the first female anchor in the history of the news desk in May 1988. During his tenure, he set the record as Korea's youngest and longest-serving 9 o'clock news anchor. He is a professional broadcaster who has hosted current affairs programs and interviews for over 30 years. However, there has been virtually no broadcasting activity since 2017.

Chairman Chung is the second son of the late Halla Group founding chairman In-young Jeong, the younger brother of the late Hyundai Group's former chairman Chung Ju-young, and he rose to the position of chairman of Halla Group in 1992 and 1997. He is the person who built the HL Group, which is worth 8.1 trillion won today.
