'Avatar: Path of Water', ranked 3rd in the global box office, is heading to the first row of home screens.
According to Variety on the 16th, 'Avatar: Path of Water' (directed by James Cameron, hereinafter referred to as 'Avatar 2') will land on the OTT platforms Disney+ and Max on June 7. Disney+ is an OTT platform created by Disney Entertainment, and HBO's Max is an OTT platform created by Warner Bros. Discovery. Max is a platform that is not yet available in Korea.
The reason why Disney+ and Max have joint streaming rights to 'Avatar 2' is based on an agreement that Max can share streaming for half of the content of Disney+ and Hulu released last year until 2022.
'Avatar 2' is a sequel to director James Cameron 13 years after the previous film 'Avatar', and tells the story of the merciless threat faced by the family of 'Jake Sully' and 'Neytiri' on the planet Pandora and the long journey they must embark on to survive. It contains stories about battles, battles, and the wounds that must be endured. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards and won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects.
“There will be a lot of Roark’s story in Season 3,” he said. “After Neteyam, the eldest son, died in Season 2, Roark, the second son, becomes the eldest son.” He added, “He forms a relationship with Tsuirea of the Metkaina tribe. “This was already hinted at in Season 2,” he added.
In addition, director James Cameron added that the so-called 'villain' Na'vi, who are not kind, will appear in 'Avatar 3', which will be released later, and will be in conflict with the Roark family.
The director said, “In ‘Avatar 3,’ there will be a race of ash represented by fire and volcanoes,” adding, “It will show that not all Na’vi people are quiet and peaceful.” He continued, "If we showed the good side of the Na'vi people in parts 1 and 2, it will be the opposite this time. I want to show a different side of the Na'vi people." Director Cameron also added that there are a total of 12 races in the ‘Avatar’ universe.
It is reported that filming for 'Avatar 3' is almost complete and post-production work is in full swing. The goal is to release 'Avatar 3' in December 2024.
