Jin Seon-gyu, who entered Cannes with TVING's original 'Ransom', is receiving a lot of attention from overseas media. His wife, Park Bo-kyung, also received an invitation to Cannes for her role in the film 'The Hwaran'.
According to her agency ElJuly Entertainment on the 16th, the movie 'The Hwaran' (directed by Kim Chang-hoon) starring Park Bo-kyung was officially invited to Un Certain Regard at the 76th Cannes International Film Festival, which opens on the same day.
'Hwaran' is a noir drama depicting the story of a boy, Yeon-gyu (played by Hong Sa-bin), who wants to escape from the hellish reality, meets the middle boss of an organization, Chi-geon (played by Song Joong-ki), and ends up in a dangerous world together.
Previously, at the 6th Cannes International Series Festival (hereinafter referred to as Cannes Series) in April, TVING's original series 'Ransom' achieved the feat of becoming the first Korean drama to win the Best Screenplay Award.
In 'Ransom', Jin Seon-gyu played the role of Noh Hyeong-soo, who visited a motel located in the mountains in the countryside to engage in prostitution and ended up at a human trafficking counter. While attending the Cannes Series, he drew explosive attention from foreign media, receiving praise for depicting human desires and madness that are revealed in an extreme crisis.
CEO Lee Joo-rae said, "Even since the event ended, we have been receiving a lot of requests for interviews from foreign media. Most foreign media have an unconventional story full of profanity and violence, and Jinseon brilliantly portrayed the character of Noh Hyeong-soo, whose signature red panties and transparent raincoat became his signature. “I am impressed by Kyu’s acting skills and have high expectations for his advancement to the world stage.”
Jin Seon-gyu plans to show a new and unconventional side through the drama 'The Amazing Rumors 2', which is confirmed to air this year, and writer Kim Eun-hee's new work 'Ghost'.
