Oh Dae-hwan "Jang Dong-yoon, who was having a hard time, ran like a horse when the shot went in... I was envious"

On the 27th, I met actor Oh Dae-hwan (43), who has been debuting for 20 years, at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. From a small role in the 2004 movie “Bridal Class” to his first screen lead role in the 2023 movie “Devils,” we were able to hear the story of the human “Oh Dae-hwan.”

Starting with Detective Wang in the movie 'Veteran', Oh Dae-hwan made an eye for the public as a 'luxurious supporting actor' by acting as Ma Jin-seok in OCN's '38 Swindlers', Kang Tae-ho in MBC's 'Red Sleeves', and Lee Yong-ki in OCN's 'Life on Mars'. He took pictures and showed off his presence.

At the press conference held on the 26th, both the actor and the director said that the filming site was difficult enough to say, "It was intense."

Oh Dae-hwan said, "I was filming four works at the same time, and (Jang) Dong-yoon would have filmed three and four at the same time. When everyone arrived at the scene, it seems that they were filming in a zombie state. ?' I was physically exhausted to the point of asking, 'Are you okay?' So even if I wasn't angry, I was still angry, so I was able to naturally become 'Rehwan'."

Oh Dae-hwan confessed that there were scenes that left him regretful because the schedule was rushed because it was a 'low-budget' work that was filmed in just 28 episodes during the filming period of less than two months in total.

"I only took one shot of the crying scene in Majang-dong. (Perhaps) It's an important scene for me. I had to film it quickly because of the production cost because the sun was going down, so I prepared it while looking at pictures of my late father and listening to sad music. I wanted to do it, so the moment I was about to tell the director, the lighting settings were all removed.”

He said, "It was a film that came out really well even though it was progressed in a hurry. There are many shortcomings and regrets, but I think that it is a film that will be praised for being of this quality. He thanked the staff.

Oh Dae-hwan felt envious of Jang Dong-yoon's stamina with whom he worked together. “It was really tiring physically and mentally because of the accumulated fatigue during the filming. (Jang) Dong-yoon must have been the same. I almost burst out of my lungs while filming the mountain climbing scene. I was envious enough to ask, ‘Can you run a little slower?’ Dong-yoon said he would understand, but he changed as soon as the shot went in. The kid who looked difficult ran like a horse, so I couldn’t follow him to the point where he couldn’t be included in the angle.”

Because it was based on a 'snuff film (a video of a brutal murder scene that was actually committed)', 'The Demons' was judged to be unsuitable for viewing by young people. Oh Dae-hwan confessed his honest feelings, saying, "It's difficult to ask you to watch it."

"It's a hard movie to watch visually. That's why I can't tell you to watch it. I haven't done a serious performance recently. If you want to see my serious side, I'd like to ask you to watch it carefully. I will be able to meet you."

'Devils' is a body-changing action thriller depicting the confrontation between the murderer 'Jin-hyeok' (Jang Dong-yoon) and the detective 'Jae-hwan' (Oh Dae-hwan), who switched bodies the moment they were arrested.

It will be released on July 5th.
