Sulli of girl group f(x) is turning into a perky pirate in a film starring Son Ye-jin and Kim Nam-gil.

The 19-year-old songstress has been cast in new adventure film “Pirates,” her agency SM Entertainment said through a press release Tuesday.

The idol singer will take on a character named Heuk-myo, which means a black cat, who is a member of Yeo-wol’s (Son) pirate group and leads the atmosphere of the group with her lively and cheerful personality.

Set in the early Joseon Dynasty, “Pirates” will center around a female pirate group and a male bandit group (led by Kim) on a mission to hunt down a whale that swallowed the king’s stamp.

Directed by Lee Seok-hoon of hit 2012 comedy “Dancing Queen,” the sea voyage film will be written by Cheon Sung-il of KBS’s hit period-set drama “The Slave Hunter,” starring Jang Hyuk and Oh Ji-ho.

Co-starring scene-stealers Yu Hae-jin, Oh Dal-soo, Ahn Nae-sang, Park Cheol-min and Cho Dal-hwan, the film is scheduled to crank in this month and set to premiere in the Korean theaters next year.
