Actress Sung Yu-ri has decided on her appearance in an upcoming TV series about cooking, according to her agency on Monday.
A press release by King Kong Entertainment said that Sung will play a genius chef named Goh Jun-young in series “The Supper of the Gods” (translated title).
“Gods” will be about two women competing to become the successor to the master of Korean royal cuisine with Goh being one of the women and actress Seo Hyun-jin her rival character.
“I’m looking forward to living my time as Goh because although I feel a lot of pressure in having to do well with my role of a genius chef with a perfect sense of taste, she’s a very appealing character,” Sung was quoted as saying in the statement.
Actor Joo Sang-wook will also star in “Gods” which is set to show on Saturdays and Sundays starting next February.
Sung, who made her debut as a member of former girl group Fin.K.L in 1998, expanded her career into acting with roles in “Thousand Years of Love,” “Swallow the Sun” and movie “Rabbit and Lizard.” Her latest work was in KBS’ drama “Romance Town” alongside actor Jung Gyu-woon.
She is currently working on action-comedy film “Detective Cha” (translated title) with actor Kang Ji-hwan which is set to open in theaters next year.
