Press releases by Lee’s agency BH Entertainment and Rhee’s agency ESteam said that the two will tie the knot at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Seoul at 6 p.m. on August 10.
The statements came in response to a report from earlier in the day by online local media outlet OSEN that quoted multiple entertainment industry sources as saying that the couple’s families agreed “the two should wed soon if possible.”
However there had been much speculation of their marriage since the moment they went public with their relationship last August with Lee, 42, and Rhee, 12 years younger than him, both said to be dating seriously since early last year.
The couple then raised eyebrows just two weekends ago when Lee Min-jung went to her friend’s wedding with Lee Byung-hun and received the bride’s bouquet. It is customary in Korea for the bride to toss her bouquet to a designated friend and the friend will usually be someone who is set to marry within the six months that follow.
Lee, with around 50 films and dramas under his belt during his 22-year acting career, has been one of the most popular actors in the Asia region. Having appeared in the first and second “G.I. Joe” movies, he is currently on global promotion of “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.”
Rhee, who debuted seven years ago, rose to stardom through 2009 hit drama “Boys Over Flowers.” She most recently wrapped up SBS TV series “All About My Romance” in which she starred with actor Shin Ha-kyun.
