Korean actress Kim Tae-hee will return to the small screen with her first historical series early next year.
The drama’s production STORY TV told the magazine Wednesday that Kim has inked the deal to depict Korea’s famous femme fatale of all time in “Jang Ok-jeong, Living in Love” [tentative title].
Based on the hit chick lit of the same name in 2008, “Jang Ok-jeong” will show Kim as a fashion designer in the Joseon Dynasty. The drama has made a twist in the story to make an imaginary character out of Jang Hee-bin, who tried to gain love from King Sook-jong and the power of Joseon Dynasty in her hands.
Helmed by named director Boo Sung-cheol of “My Girlfriend is Gumiho” (SBS, 2010), the series will begin its shooting next January when finished with the casting process, the official explained.
Kim, who rose to fame with SBS’ melodrama “Stairway to Heaven” aired in 2003, has gained further recognition in Asia after starring in blockbuster series “IRIS” (KBS, 2009) and romantic drama “My Princess” (MBC, 2011).
