An uncomfortable truth about the shady business of human organ trafficking is about to come to light soon.
“The Traffickers,” which provides glimpses into global black market in human organs frequently happening in vessels in international sea waters, is slated to open in local theaters in August.
Directed by Kim Hong-sun, the film begins with the story of a married couple, Sang-ho (played by Choi Daniel) and Chae-hee, getting on a passenger boat heading to Weihai, China.
On that very evening, when the boat just entered the international sea waters where legal framework does not have proper mechanisms, Chae-hee goes missing and all her pictures and belongings get lost without a trace.
Im Chang-jung of “Cheongdam Bosal” (2009) is portraying the head manager in charge of the deal who turns out to be Chae-hee’s acquaintance.
Centering around the world of organ trafficking, the he crime thriller will focus on the six hours of voyage of an ordinary person becoming the victim of the illicit trade.
