KBS’ weekend TV series “My Husband Got a Family” has maintained its reign atop weekly ratings chart, shattering its own record after reaching the 40 percent mark.
The family drama drew in 37.9 percent of the total viewers during the first week of July and managed to attract 41.4 percent on Sunday’s episode, according to TNmS (Total National Multimedia Statistics) on Monday.
Posting notable records every week, the Yoo Jun-sang and Kim Nam-joo starrer has been popular for viewers of all ages by differentiating itself from typical TV series with realistic stories of married couples and in-laws.
On this week’s episodes, Cheon Jae-young (played by Lee Hee-jun) finally confessed his love to Bang i-sook (played by Cho Youn-hee) and proposed marriage.
With a huge gap behind the chart-topper, KBS’ week-days series, “Reaching for the Stars” reclaimed the No.2 title with the rating of 23.5 percent.
SBS’ “Gentleman’s Dignity,” starring Jang Dong-gun and Kim Ha-neul, ranked at the 3rd place, recording 22.4 percent of the total viewers last week.
Additionally, KBS’ comedy program “Gag concert” and MBC’s “Light and Shadow” each sat at No. 4 and No. 5 after posting 21.8 and 19.8 percent in the same time frame.
Other TV shows in the top ten include KBS’ 9 O’clock News, SBS’ variety show “I Like Sundays,” KBS’ “Gaksital,” SBS’ “Wow How” and SBS’ drama “Phantom.”
Meanwhile, AGB Nielson’s data compiled between July 2 and 8 showed the dramas in a slightly different order of ratings.
The data showed “My Husband” stood strong atop the weekly chart with 34.7 percent, followed by “Gentleman’s Dignity” and KBS’ “Reaching for the Stars” sitting at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, after posting 21.8 and 21.6 percent last week.
